During a Spirit Call this week (an online gathering I do weekly for women), I used a prompt to help us connect with what wanted to happen. The prompt was called “Create your own closure” with a picture of an open door, from the book The Answers Are Within You, by Amber Rae.
After some discussion on what closure means to us and what things/patterns/beliefs we’d like to create closure around, we did a Shamanic Journey with this prompt.
In my journey, in my mind’s eye, I saw myself kneeling down with my eyes closed in front of a large door. The Door of Closure.
My hands were pressed together in front of my chest. A sign of gratitude and respect.
I got the sense immediately, I *knew* this was not in my mind’s control. This door. What needs closure. It’s all bigger than me.
My intentions are potent, and yet I can leave the details, the unfolding, to my spirit, my energetic supports, the Universe. I let them take over and allowed what needs to happen.
‘SLAM!’ The door shuts loudly, and I bolt upright, in my vision, with a start.
“What just happened?” I ask to my Spirit.
“Some things need a sharp departure,” Spirit replied.
“What’s left? What’s here now because the door of closure is shut?” I ask, thinking there will be some guidance or symbolism to help me move forward now that some things have been closed off to me.
There’s no response other than a large, old fashioned key forming in my hand.
Immediately, without thinking, I throw it. Hard. Out into a pond with deep mud.
It’s gone.
I feel empowered, brave, and excited.
I have no idea what I’ve done. What I’ve given closure to.
But it feels right.

When I shared my journey experience with the group, I received some further guidance from my Spirit relating to the closure, and the next steps for me now that things are different.
My Spirit offered, “Take no-brain leaps forward without fear. Play with it. Do it anyway. Make choices without thinking much. Be bold in choosing things that don’t align with your old ways or the ways of societal norms.”

After the call, I left with the reminder and intention to take inspired action without thinking about it. Just doing it. Leaping out of the ordinary.
Weave this into the rest of my day, today.
Around noon, I was supposed to eat lunch, as many do. Spirit had a different plan: have a brief nap.
It didn’t make sense, but my legs and my torso suddenly felt so dense and heavy that my mind actually couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
I napped. It was deep, and about an hour.
And then I woke up gently, prepared some lunch and sat on my deck in the warmth of the shade (it’s hot today), eating cheese and crackers and veggies and olives.
A woodpecker appeared (for real, not in my inner vision). He was eating too. Finding bugs.
And then a second woodpecker appeared. Eating.
One of them actually hopped up on the edge of my deck next to me, eating something from an old spider web.
Then eight quail scurried across the street, with their impossibly fast feet, toward the feasting grounds. They were sharing the bug buffet on the ground with the two woodpeckers.
It was magical. The day felt expansive and full of gifts like these moments.
Aside from the obvious theme of ‘nourishing myself’, I don’t fully know what it all means. But I don’t think I need to know other than the general message that when we follow our intuitive nudges, we are gathering magic. Things happen that were otherwise unable to unfold in these unique and mysterious and curious ways, if we surrender to our spirit.
So, go, play, follow your Spirit, and see what happens.
