The hooting outside was heard as I was digging out my pyjamas, getting ready for bed.
Brian and I both looked up at each other and raced out to our back deck to see what we could see.
Another classic owl call. And super close…. And another.
This new phone has a new night vision feature within the camera. So, I tried it out.
You can’t see the owl at the very top tip of the tree, but the photo is epic! It’s completely dark out, and that light still came through.
I waited to hear more and thought I saw the reflection of eyes moving. Right at the top of the tree.
I was right. The owl took flight from its tall perch and glided silently over me, 40 feet above my gaping silent mouth.
The light colour of the underside of his wings is the only thing giving him away in this dimly lit night sky.
Woah.
