Rather than ski today, we chose to cross B.O.B (the Big Orange Bridge), and hike up Pulpit Rock.

It’s a 3.5km hike up some relatively steep switchbacks, made rather evil today by compact snow and ice.

Aside from moments of slippery terror, the hike was great, with a splendid view of the town of Nelson.

For those of you who are going to suggest I purchase some YakTrax or clip-on shoe studs, please note that I brought my own but lovingly lent them to my son, Ira, whose boots seemed to have the least amount of grip between the three of us.

If I were to have one magical wish on this fine day, it would be that I have four fuzzy paws with sharp claws, like my dog, Wanaka.

She had no troubles at all.
